Pastor’s Corner Feb 19, 2013- Security

So far we have discussed setting up a home food pantry and trading some paper money for something of real value. If you have been following the news then you have heard that the economy is improving with the stock market near an all time high. A boom also preceded the collapse in the Weimar Republic. The largest transfer of wealth in human history is about to take place and 95% of the American public will not see it coming. Inflation is to fiat currency like gravity is to airplanes, sooner or later they all come down. Inflation happens when the paper currency supply becomes so great that the perceived worth of it begins to fall. When this begins it starts a chain reaction in those who are well vested in this currency. Confidence begins to wane and they begin dumping the devalued notes as fast as possible which floods more paper into the system which in turn erodes confidence and that cycle does not end till the currency is completely valueless. You see the only way to get rid of the national debt is to inflate it out of existence where 16 trillion isn’t worth a loaf of bread. You may be thinking that is a good thing if our national debt disappears, but your wealth, all of it, disappears with it. You may think that this has only happened to third world countries or those defeated by war, but the reality of it is that no nation that abuses its monetary system escapes without paying a severe price. Our nation is on a reckless course of disaster of which the turning back point was 2008, but instead of turning back, taking our medicine then, our Presidents, both Republican and Democrat decided to crank up the presses. Enough said.

Let’s talk about security. Should a Christian ever arm themselves for the purpose of self defense? Luke 22:36 “Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” This is one of the last conversations the Lord had with His disciples before going to the cross. In this verse He announces three changes in how the disciples were to walk. Before this time, they did not need their purse, but now they were to carry their money on them. Before, they did not need their scrip, which is a shepherd’s bag where one kept food, clothing, ammunition, business papers etc. Today we call that a BOB, a bug out bag! 1Sa 17:40 “And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.” The Shepherd’s bag was an overnight bag for a shepherd in the field. Before, they needed no weapon for protection because the Lord Himself was among them and protected them. John 18:6-9 “As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way: That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.”

“BUT NOW… he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” This makes owning a weapon (one equal to the weapon of any period) a God given right to the believer. The second amendment is nothing more than an affirmation of it, that is why our founding fathers put included it and said don‘t touch it! There are only a few reasons why a government disarms its law abiding citizens, one is to steal what they have without any real resistance. The other is to control you from the cradle to the grave, so that they can steal from you systematically your entire life. If you resist unarmed, you die. Estimates of up to 100 million or more died exactly this way in the 20th century. Communism, Fascism, Islam, Democracies, Oligarchies, or Republics, makes no difference what system your under if they get your weapon they will come for your stuff and more times than not, they will come for you! James 4:1-2 “From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.” A Christian man has the right and obligation to defend his home and his family. Real Bible Christians (not the crusader kind) who are not attacked are the most harmless people on this planet. We are taught by our Lord not to steal, kill, covet or bear false witness against our neighbors. We may have to fight wars started by politicians and kings but with everything that is within us we desire to live in peace with all men- Rom 12:18 “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
If we get a bad rap it is because of kingdom builders like the Roman Catholic Church who believe the Pope should rule the earth, that use other countries armies to steal what they want.

If the bottom should drop out, you should be ready to defend yourselves and your families.
Neh. 4:13-14 “Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows. And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”

If you do not own a firearm, you should do the research to find what is practical, safe, and necessary to defend your home.
My next post will not be so serious, just something I enjoy discussing.
